Welcome

I am a PhD student in the Membrane Biophysics Group at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I am working mainly theoratically but also experimentally on the propagation of nervous signals in axons.

The goal of the experimental efforts is to measure the mechanical and electrical component of the nervous pulses. Early measurments by Tasaki et al. (1980) showed that the nerve axon membrane changes thickness in phase with the electrical nervous signal.

The theoratical componet of my PhD-project is to extent and work with the Soliton model, Heimburg and Jackson (2005), which describes the propagation of nerve signals as a localized density pulse.

The combined experimental and theoratical project make a ideal platform for testing and exploring the properties of the propagation of nerve pulses.
