Applied Statistics - Week 1

The following chapters (including exercises in the book!) and computer exercises are considered read, understood, and solved by the end of the week.

  • Central Limit Theorem,
  • Significant Digits,
  • Mean and Width.
  • Binomial, Poisson and Gaussian distributions.
  • Error propagation.
  • Chi Square.

    Reading:
  • Chapter 1: Introduction.
  • Chapter 2: Mean, width, and correlation (see also Cowan 1.6).
  • Chapter 3: Probability Density Functions (PDFs).
  • Chapter 4: Error propagation.
  • Chapter 6: 6.1 and 6.4 on Chi Square.
